Hard to believe we have entered the 3rd trimester. On Topic Quizzes, students are allowed to look back at any work we did for that quiz. I am stepping back with my help on these quizzes. If the student is engaged during the lessons and asking questions if they need help, the quizzes should be manageable. If the student is not paying attention during the lessons, they may find the quizzes difficult. You may see a change in their grade this trimester. I am trying to encourage the students to get involved in their learning. It is a partnership, and they play a huge role in their learning. Please discuss with your child the importance of being a part of their learning process.
***3rd Trimester Homework Policy- If the student does not finish the assigned problems on the Problem Set in class, they will bring it home as homework and turn it in the next school day. If it is not finished or not turned in, they will earn a missing assignment and be sent to study hall to complete the work.
Please make sure to check your child's student planner EVERY week night and ask to see your child's work. After reviewing the work, please sign the planner nightly. The students get "paid" for those signatures, and missing signatures count against their earning R & R. Ask them about R&R.
"Reading with Rover" is a program available to all 3rd-8th graders at McSwain school. This is a program where school-aged children read to shelter dogs as a way to socialize them and make them more adoptable. The program saw 80+ kids participate last year. The kids really seemed to enjoy it, and I am sure the dogs did as well. We have had 14 dogs find their furever homes with McSwain families. Thank you for your support.
